This is the first hallmarked dragon i have made using a new technique called Lost Wax Casting. it involves cutting and making a object out of wax and then with a process of Investment ( a very ancient technique ) you invest your wax and burn it out. Hence the name ” Lost Wax” you have a void in what was your investment and you pour in molten silver into a flask. Using a vac set up that was created by me and a good friend. It pulls air out and pulls the Silver down into the investment.
Then it is only a matter of cleaning up, cutting and lots of fine details to bring this piece to life. I add the extra step of having it hallmarked by the oldest assay office. The Edinburgh Assay Office, located in Scotland.
This guarantees the purity of the silver 999 and you have a historical piece by myself. Well i hope it becomes historical.
This Dragon is one of 2 that I have for sale at the minute. This one weighs in at 1.75 oz troy.
There is a lot of hard work involved but am coming to terms with how to utilise the materials and am improving in my own skill set.
Thank you for your support of my art.
