A Death-Defying Design Dedicated to Military Honor
Struck by the Intaglio Mint in two ounces of highly pure 99.9% silver, this collectible round features a death-defying design that shows a skeletal skull still wearing a plumed Roman helmet. A short-bladed sword is buried to the hilt in the back of the helmet and protrudes through the gaping mouth of the skull’s jaw. Below the image is the inscription MORTE PRIMA DI DISONORE. On the other side of the round is an ominous-looking winged skull impaled by three curved swords above a ribbon that reads DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR. The ribbon is reminiscent of the tattoos worn by soldiers — the slogan frequently written in a coiling scroll wrapped around a dagger inked into the arms of soldiers as a way of showing their dedication to their buddies, their unit and their country.
